Visa Information

Most international visitors must apply for a visa to enter the U.S. It is imperative to make application well in advance of travel. The U.S. Department of State provides explicit instructions on how to apply for a visa. They also provide online application forms. Go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html  for complete information.

Canadian citizens:

Citizens of Canada whose sole purpose to enter the U.S. is to attend SUPERCOMM 2009 are allowed to enter the U.S. as a B-1 Temporary Business Visitor without an actual visa. To cross the U.S. border, you must present a valid passport, proof of residence in Canada, intent to depart the U.S., and/or documentation describing the business purpose of your travel. If you are a non-Canadian residing in Canada and not a citizen of a visa-waiver country, you will need a visa. More information is available here.

Visa letters will not be sent to Canadian registrants. Third-country residents in Canada may contact NXTcomm directly for their letters. All other international registrants will receive their letters of invitation automatically.

Visa waiver countries:

Travelers coming to the U.S. from visa waiver countries for business purposes, 90 days or less, may be eligible to visit the U.S. without a visa. Currently, 27 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program:
  • Andorra
  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Brunei
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Liechtenstein

  • The Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway

  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom

Letters of invitation (electronic):

While submission of a letter of invitation from the host entity to the local, in-country U.S. consular office is not an absolute requirement for visa issuance, SUPERCOMM will issue letters of invitation as a matter of courtesy to all international registrants. Every international attendee, except Canadians, who registers online will automatically receive a securely formatted letter of invitation by return e-mail, starting in January 2009.

  • It is important to fill out the registration information carefully and correctly because names, titles, company name and address for letters of invitation are taken directly from the online registration form.
  • Letters of invitation are sent ONLY after registration is completed.
  • Each registrant must provide his or her own e-mail address on the registration form to receive this letter of invitation.
  • Individuals or groups using the same e-mail address will not receive letters.

It's not about "maybe we can try this." At SUPERCOMM 2009, you'll hear a lot of "this is how we're doing it."

What do you see as the biggest opportunities in the industry?

“With the Internet leveling everything and all sorts of service providers invading each other's space, we must recast the industry economics in order to create viable, sustainable business models that will carry us well into the 21st century.”

Karl May,
CEO, OpVista
